MR. ADISH C AGGARWALA

Mr. Adish C. Aggarwala (Gold medalist and designated Senior Advocate) is serving as Additional Advocate General of State of Punjab in Supreme Court of India and Punjab & Haryana High Court, as well as Senior Central Government Counsel in the Supreme Court of India and Delhi High Court. Mr. Aggarwala is a dynamic, high profile lawyer, writer and social activist.

Other current involvements include: Chairman of All India Bar Association; Convener of Indian Council of Jurists; Chairman of India Legal Information Institute; Chairman of National Citizen’s Committee. He has been Executive Council Member and General Council Member of National Law School of India University, Bangalore.  He is also Academic Council Member of Chanakya National Law University.

He has been the youngest elected Vice-Chairman of the Bar Council of India, which is the apex statutory body of lawyers constituted under the Advocates Act, 1961. As in-charge of legal education in India, Mr. Aggarwala was responsible for the closure of more than 150 sub-standard law schools across the country. He is credited with raising standards of legal education and has established 140 new law schools.

He has also been singularly conferred with the honour of looking after the matters of Govt. of India as its senior counsel, under the Prime Ministership of Mr. Rajiv Gandhi, Mr. V.P. Singh, Mr. Chandra Shekhar, Mr. P.V. Narasimha Rao, Mr. H.D. Deve Gowda, Mr. I.K. Gujral, Mr. Atal Behari Vajpayee and Dr. Manmohan Singh. He has also worked as Additional Advocate General of Uttar Pradesh in Supreme Court of India and all High Courts.

Started writing from his school days, Mr. Aggarwala was the Editor of his college magazine. He also edited an English fortnightly from the soil of Haryana for ten years. The special issues of the fortnightly were released by the then Presidents of India Mr. Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed and Giani Zail Singh, the then Prime Ministers Mrs. Indira Gandhi and Mr. Rajiv Gandhi and the then Information & Broadcasting Minister Mr. Inder Kumar Gujral.

Mr. Aggarwala has authored three books, Forewords and Prefaces were contributed by the then Vice-President of India Mr. K.R. Narayanan, then Finance Minister Mr. V.P. Singh, then Law Ministers Mr. Ashok Sen and Dr. Hansraj Bhardwaj. These books (and revised editions) were released by the then President Giani Zail Singh and Dr. Shankar Dayal Sharma, the then Prime Ministers Mr. Rajiv Gandhi and Mr. Chandra Shekhar, Mr. P.V.Narasimha Rao and Mother Teresa.

His book titled “Constitution of India” will be released in December 2007. His two books titled (1) “Saint Mother Teresa - A Living Legend” (2) “India - My India” will be released in the year 2008.

Mr. Aggarwala has widely travelled in India and abroad (120 countries). He has represented India in many international conferences and seminars as a representative of the Prime Minister also. He has the rare opportunity of being the guest of the White House to have a breakfast meeting with both, Bush senior and Bush junior and twice with President Clinton. He has participated in more than 5000 functions in different parts of the world as special guest of honour and special write-ups on him have appeared in international dailies and TV and Radio.
